Dustin joined the military in September 2009 as a cavalry scout. He was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, in February 2010 and deployed in support of Operation New Dawn in August 2010.

David played football for four years at Humboldt High School and graduated in 2005. He was the team's captain and Most Valuable Player during the 2004 football season. He also played football at Bethel University from 2005 to 2009, where he was studying civil engineering before he left to join the military.

Finch's awards and decorations include National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon.

Dustin was and still is a AMERICAN HERO.

Dustin was a man that never meet a stranger. He always had a smile on his face and cared deeply for everyone. He touched so many lives with his kindness and charm. He will be forever in our hearts and always loved and missed.

Humboldt, TN - Services for PFC David Dustin Finch will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Humboldt, Dr. Jeremy Cagle presiding. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 till 9 p.m. on Friday, December 17th at First Baptist Church, and Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. 
PFC Finch, a Calvary scout with the 23rd Sabre Squad, HHT, 2nd squadron, 3rd Armored Calvary headquartered in Fort Hood, TX, was killed in action in Iraq Wednesday, December 8, 2010.
PFC Finch, loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many, graduated from Humboldt High School in 2005 where he played football and received the Doug Atkins MVP award in 2004. He also graduated from Bethel University in 2009 where he played football from 2005 to 2009. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Army deployed to Operation Iraqi New Dawn.
