Jon Gaudette Sr. was born on July 25, 1980, in Sacramento, CA to Gary and Debra (Pennington) Gaudette. Jon attended Willamette High School in Eugene, Oregon and later attended LSU.


US Army Staff Sergeant (SSG) Gaudette served on Active-Duty July 30, 2001, through April 19, 2014 and in the Louisiana National Guard April 20, 2014 through September 3, 2021. During his service in the US Army, Jon was part of an Air Defense Artillery Task Force in Kuwait in support of OIF. He then served as a Combat Infantryman in the 101st Airborne Division (187th Raakasans) in Afghanistan. 

While serving in the Louisiana National Guard, Jon was assigned to the Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 225th Engineer Brigade in Pineville, LA, and most recently the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, where he was critical to multiple Storm Recovery and Covid response operations. Jon was a recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge and graduate the 101st Air Assault School. Some of his awards include Army Commendation Medal x5, Army Achievement Medal x10, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with bronze Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Louisiana Emergency Service Medal x5, Louisiana General Excellence Ribbon, and Louisiana Longevity Ribbon.


During Pre-Covid days, Jon spent his free time playing beach volleyball, cheering on LSU and Duck sports teams, and brightening up many events of revelry with his infamous alter ego, Jonny Dazzles. He loved playing video games, taking things apart, and playing board games with his partner, Felicia. Over the past years in the Louisiana National Guard, Jon was a dedicated servant of the people of Louisiana, serving on the front lines of Covid, and providing support through multiple catastrophic storms.


Jon is survived by his partner Felicia Chaisson, Baton Rouge, LA. Parents, Debra (Pennington) Gaudette of Eugene, OR
Gary Gaudette of Albany, OR. Grandparent Joann Pierce. Three children, Charity Hites of Eugene, OR, Elizabeth Grooms, Caledonia, MS and Jon Gaudette Jr. of Atlanta, GA., A sister Cassidy Gaudette, Eugene OR and four brothers, Brian of West Point, NY, Michael, Matthew, and Sean Gaudette, all of Eugene, OR.


A visitation was held at Sunset Hills Funeral Home, Eugene, OR, Monday, September 13th, 2021 from 4-6:00pm. The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 15th, 2021, at 11:00am, Sunset Hills Funeral Home. Interment to follow service with military honors, Sunset Hills Cemetery, Eugene, OR.
