SAGINAW, Mich. -- The body of U.S. Army Sgt. Kristopher Gould returned to Mid-Michigan on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old Frankenlust Township native died Feb. 28 after his unit was hit by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan. Gould was on his third tour of duty in the Middle East.
He most recently deployed in January as part of the U.S. Army’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division out of Fort Knox, Ky.
Members of the Patriot Guard stood silently as his coffin was lowered from a private jet Wednesday morning. The members then formed a procession to escort Gould to an area funeral home.
The family will hold the service for Gould, a 2004 Valley Lutheran graduate, on Saturday, March 12. A visitation will begin at 1 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss St. in Saginaw, followed by a 3 p.m. service. |
