Major Andrew L. Eddins, 44, a resident of Portland, died in a traffic accident Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010 in Dallas, Texas.
He was born Feb. 14, 1966, in Portland, son of William L. and Suzanne J. Eddins. He grew up in The Dalles, graduating from The Dalles High School in 1984. After high school he joined the U.S. Army National Guard and the Army ROTC, serving two tours in Iraq.
He loved his cat and dogs, raised chickens, pheasants and a turkey he named “Dinner.” He was a wonderful cook, he loved to barbecue with friends and enjoyed hunting and fishing along Fifteenmile Creek.
He is survived by his daughter, Caroline Suzanne Eddins, Portland; his mother, Suzanne Eddins, The Dalles; his sister, Janelle DePolo and her husband Jon, Las Vegas, Nev.; his aunts, uncles and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Eddins.
Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church in The Dalles with Father Ron Maag officiating with Military Honors to follow. A luncheon will follow at the Parish Center. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
