Soldier from Urbana Killed in Iraq

Another Ozarks family is mourning the loss of a solider in Iraq.
The U.S. Department of Defense Tuesday confirmed the death of Sgt. Lindsey James, 23, or Urbana, Missouri.

James died Saturday, January 29 in Baghdad. A department spokesman said James was killed when an improvised explosive device blew up near his patrol. James had been providing security for an Iraqi polling place.

James was assigned to the 2d Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division based in Fort Drum, N.Y, according to information released by the D.O.D.

James graduated in 2001 from the Skyline High School near Urbana, Missouri.

He attended all four years at the school, according to principal Kevin Shearer, who said Lindsey had remained close with several people in the community after graduating.

Services for James are scheduled at 10:00 am Saturday, February 12 at Skyline High School. The public is invited to attend.
