From Shirley Hutton 04/30/08

First, thank you for the beautiful, simple Memorial for Casey Sheehan.
In my own attempt to not let the memory of Casey drift away, I just picked up my AF Academy jacket from Quinn's Uniform Shop, here in Vacaville, after they lovingly embroidered the names of the three soldiers we have lost in Iraq. I say 'lovingly' because their employee, Matt, could not get the jacket into the hoop with the large patch sewn on. But he did not give up.
Many Vietnam Veterans (and the general public) have stopped me, to look at the patch, even before the names were added. Most of the vets almost broke down, remembering comrades who did not return with them. That there are those, 40 years later, who would remember means so much.
My heart goes out to Casey's family. My hope is that wearing my jacket will not let him be forgotten.
Sincerely,
