Evansville Center Named for Soldier Killed in Iraq

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Army Reserve Center in Evansville has been renamed in honor of a soldier killed in Iraq three years ago by a suicide bomber.
The honor was bestowed for Sgt. James W. Harlan during a ceremony Saturday attended by several soldiers who served with him in Iraq.
The Evansville reserve center is home to the 380th Quartermaster Co. and the 733rd Transportation Co.
Harlan was a native of Owensboro, Ky., who first joined the Army Reserves in 1980. He re-enlisted as a truck driver with the Evansville unit in 2003 and was deployed to Iraq as a member of a unit from Cadiz, Ohio.
He was 44 when he died in the May 14, 2004, bombing.
