From Darrell McAllister 01/24/05:

Leonard D Simmons, left recruiting about 3 or 4 months before he died, he went from the winter of Washington state to the summer of Iraq, never one to complain or even whine a little, he quietly died of heat stroke without telling a soul. He was not only a good friend but a great Soldier...I'm gonna miss him til I see him again at the BIG soldiers retirement home...thanks for giving me an outlet to get a little bit of it out.
